stress & Burnout

We throw around the word “burnout” a lot, which can make it feel hard to identify. Burnout isn’t just being a little tired or needing a break, it’s a state of physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that builds up when we’re overextended and under-supported for too long. And stress? It’s not just in your head. It lives in your body, impacts your sleep, your mood, your focus, and sometimes even your sense of identity. The problem isn’t that you can’t handle stress, it’s that you’ve probably been taught to ignore your limits until they scream at you.

Whether you’re stressed about work, caregiving, relationships, or the pressure to do it all perfectly, we can work together to understand the unique stressors in your life and begin the work of creating sustainability and balance. I work with my clients to create customized self-care plans that go way beyond bubble baths. I’m talking about the real stuff: boundary setting, saying no, unlearning hustle culture, getting adequate rest, nourishing your body, and creating sustainability in your routines and habits.

Tools I use in this approach:

I pull from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients reconnect with what matters most, and from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to untangle unhelpful thought patterns that keep them stuck in cycles of stress and overfunctioning. Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us explore the parts of you that push through, people-please, or struggle to rest, even when you're running on empty.

If your stress or burnout is tied to past experiences or trauma, we might also incorporate EMDR to help release what’s been stored in your nervous system. The goal isn’t to help you tolerate more stress, it’s to help you live differently.
